Vanayuddham Movie Review

Starring : Kishore, Vijaylakshmi, Arjun, Lakshmi Rai

Direction : AMR Ramesh

Music : Sandep Chowta

Production : Akshaya Creations ,Sai Sri Cinemas, S Lad Entertainment

Director AMR Ramesh who grabbed our attention with his “Kuppi” is yet again back with a biopic of forest brigand “Veerappan”. Making a biopic is not a joke and that too in a country where a film maker has minimum independence. AMR Ramesh succeeded with his Kuppi let us see whether he can recreate the magic again or not.

First things first, since Veerappan is deeply rooted in the minds of the audience from the beginning we are able to relate with the movie . Kishore as Veerapan fits the T. Kishore has given a subtle realistic performance as Veerappan and as usual he carries the show with his anger looks .

As the film is a biopic it has too many character but other than Kishore it was Arjun(DGP Vijay kumar) and Aadukalam VIS Jeyabalan as Military periyavar steals the show . Lakshmi Rai who plays a TV Journalist didn’t have much scope but she has given a adequate performance.

Highly expected Vijaylaksmi sequence has been completely chopped off, thanks to the controversies and film moves in a rapid pace because of many cuts. The film is technically sound with some great cinematography and background music.

Vijay Milton’s camera work is perfect especially in the action sequences so as the BGM by Sandeep Chowda and the director has to be appreciated for not including any songs. Editing by Antony is crisp and accelerates the pace of the movie.

Vana Yuddham is not a page by page biopic of Veerappan but then it is a combined version of interesting sequences in Veerapan’s life .For those who want to know about Veerapan’s encounter mission in detail go for it.

Verdict : Interesting bipoic
