The evergreen darling of India, Sridevi is making a come back with this film. After about 14 years, she has faced the camera and this time it’s a sensitive subject that has a pan Indian rather global appeal. The film, English Vinglish deals with the concerns and insecurities of an Indian homemaker in a foreign soil. The trailer is already a big hit among fans and the film has received critical appreciation at the Toronto International Film Festival. Recently, Superstar Rajinikanth who saw the film too has been all praise for the film and the cast and crew. Another major factor for the film that might give it a great opening is the presence of actor Ajith in a cameo role in the film. While Ajith has done the cameo for the Tamil and Telugu versions, Amithabh Bachchan has done the role in Hindi.
The film also stars Priya Anand of Vamanan fame, a French actor Mehdi Nebbou and Adil Hussain.
Sridevi plays the character of a housewife with little English knowledge and later on how she wins over the problem much to the delight and awe of her own family members. Priya Anand plays a supporting character in the film.
The film is directed by Gaurie Shinde, wife of director Balki of Cheeni Kum and Paa fame. The film is produced by Balki and distributed by EROS International.
