Sonna Puriyathu, starring Shiva and Vasundhara Kashyap, got a clean chit from the Censor Board and is all set to hit theatres on July 26. Debutant director Krishnan Jayaraj, a former associate of director C.S. Amudhan of Thamizh Padam fame, is on cloud nine for having got past the censors without ado. “One of the members called it a neat film and a few others said that they enjoyed it,” says Krishnan.
The posters of Sonna Puriyathu were creative, featuring Siva as James Bond. They also seemed to hark back to the posters created for Thamizh Padam, which was directed by his mentor. Did his work bear an influence of Amudhan’s style of making films? Krishnan says, “The posters might suggest this because Amudhan and I worked together in an advertising firm and I assisted him with the posters for Thamizh Padam. Maybe, in creating advertising material, our style might look the same, but definitely not in the film.” Krishnan also revealed that Shiva wrote a Hindi song for this Tamil film which he has sung himself. “Shiva is now a lyricist too. It’s not a proper Hindi song. To be honest, none of us know Hindi properly.
But he has written a song in Hindi with all that he knew. The song will come across as a funny one and Hindi-speaking people will find it even funnier,” he added.
