Glimpse back through the previous and forthcoming flicks of Surya; you will see that he has featured himself in only experienced directors. We are not concerned about his films before Nanda, but his last 6-7 projects. He has been playing lead roles in two of Bala’s direction Nanda and Pithamaghan: Gowtham’s directorial ‘Kaakha Kaakha’ and forthcoming movie ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’: Director Hari’s ‘Aaru’, ‘Vel’ and upcoming ‘Singam’. So his films that the directors were Ameer for Mounam Pesiyadhe, Murugadoss’s ‘Ghajini’ and Krishna’s Sillinnu Oru Kadhal.
Nothing is sure whether it has been his decision or his father Sivakumar’s. But, we feel a successful actor is the one who keeps trying out new ventures with other directors who come up with innovative and exceptional themes.
On this part, Vijay and Ajith can be appreciated. Despites carrying higher graphs with commercial successes, Vijay boldly took up the project by Bharathan for ATM. As of Ajith, most of his successful films weren’t off well experienced directors other than K.S. Ravikumar (Villain and Varalaru), but in the films made by youngsters.
