Fisherman Role Quite Interesting for Shaam
Of late, Shaam has shown a preference to play character roles rather than mere romantic leads. He has now signed a film called Antony – Yaar (which translates as Who is Antony?), in which he plays a fisherman. The story of the film revolves around an orphaned infant, who is found in a kattamaram (catamaran) near a church. The boy, who is adopted by the priests, grows up to be endowed with divine powers and he takes on anti-social elements.
Pandi, who worked as an assistant to Selvah directs the film. Mallika Kapoor has been roped in to act opposite Shaam. While Dhina composes the music, Santonio handles the cinematography. Speaking about his role, Shaam says, “Following my role in Iyarkai, I visited fishing hamlets of Uvari, Kovalam and Nagercoil. Here I observed the body language and the mannerisms of the fishermen to get a hang of my role in the new film. It has a gripping story and it is one of the toughest characters that I have portrayed in my career so far.”
