Amyra inspired by 80s heroines for Anegan

She has been acting for the past one week with Dhanush in her first Tamil film, KV Anand’s Anegan, and Amyra Dastur, who’s done Issaq in Hindi, says that it has been a nice experience so far. “I really don’t find any difference. After all, we are shooting a film and that involves the same amount of work,” she quips.
And, how is the actress preparing for her role? “KV sir sent me a lot of Tamil movies, mostly from the 80s and 90s. I saw Gentleman and some of the earlier movies of Mani Ratnam and Rajinikanth. He mainly wanted me to look at the heroines in these movies to imbibe the shyness and innocence they express. He wanted me to understand that a girl in Mumbai doesn’t express her love in the same way as one in the south,” she says.
So, is she playing a traditional south Indian girl, considering she has been watching films featuring such heroines and shot scenes sporting half saris and pavadai sattais? Amyra says these will not be her only looks in the film. “There are many, many looks. Even with Dhanush, what you have seen in the publicity posters is not his only look. It is such a different movie and I’m not playing just one character,” is all she says.
